Privacy Policy
Puzy never asks for your name, email or location, shows no ads and doesn't track you across other apps or websites. To keep your progress, the app sends what you play to our server under a random id.
This policy covers the Puzy app for iPhone and the puzy.app website. Puzy is made by Sailesh Dahal, an individual developer in Nepal, called "we" here.
What the app sends us
Everything below is tied to your Player id, so it is "linked to you" in the App Store's words. None of it is used to track you.
Your Player id
A random id the app makes the first time it opens. It goes with every request so the server knows which progress is yours. It isn't your Apple ID or your device's advertising identifier, and it isn't linked to your name. It's kept in your iCloud Keychain, so your other devices on the same Apple Account share it.
App Store label: Identifiers · User IDWhat you play
For each puzzle you finish or skip: which puzzle, how it ended (solved, solved with a Hint, missed or skipped), your Stars, tries and time, whether you used a Hint, and the date and time you played. Each request also carries the app's build number.
App Store label: Usage Data · Product InteractionProblem reports
When you flag a puzzle as broken or unfair: which puzzle, the reason you picked, and the note you write, if any (up to 500 characters). Please keep personal details out of the note.
App Store label: User Content · Customer Support and Other User ContentWhy
- To keep your progress. Your Rating and Streak are worked out from what you played, so they come back on a new phone.
- To pick your next puzzles. The server chooses puzzles near your level from your recent play.
- To make the puzzles better. Results from all players show how hard each puzzle really is, and problem reports tell us what to fix.
What stays on your phone
Your Haptics and Sound settings, the puzzles saved for playing offline, and a copy of your results. Deleting the app deletes them.
What we never do
- No ads and no advertising or analytics SDKs.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites, and no data brokers.
- We don't sell or share your data.
- No location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
Who handles it for us
- Cloudflare runs our server, database and picture storage. Like any web host it sees your IP address when the app connects; our server doesn't store it.
- Apple keeps your Player id in iCloud Keychain. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple also sends us crash reports and usage statistics that don't identify you.
How long we keep it
Your results are kept for as long as Puzy runs, because your Rating and Streak are rebuilt from them. Problem reports are kept while we look into them. 90 days after a report is resolved, we delete its note and unlink it from your Player id; what's left (which puzzle, and the reason picked) helps us keep track of puzzle quality.
Your choices
- To stop sending anything, delete the app.
- To get a copy of your data, or to have it deleted from our server, contact us and include your Player code: Menu → About shows it, with a Copy button. It's how we find which data is yours, since we don't know your name.
- Depending on where you live, you may have further rights over your data, such as correcting it or objecting to how it's used. Contact us to use them.
Children
Puzy is for people aged 13 and over and isn't directed at children under 13. It asks nobody for a name or contact details, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has used Puzy, contact us and we'll delete their data.
The website and its waitlist
If you join the waitlist on puzy.app we store your email address, the time you joined, the country your request came from and your browser's user-agent string, on Cloudflare, for one purpose: telling you when Puzy ships. Reply to any waitlist email with "remove" and the address is deleted.
The site has no analytics, tracking pixels, advertising scripts or cookies. It keeps one flag in your browser's local storage to remember that you joined; it never leaves your device. Type is loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font files are requested.
Changes
When this policy changes we'll update this page and its date. If a change affects what the app collects, we'll say so in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
